Attorney-reviewed in all 50 states

About Sue

Access to justice should not cost a retainer.

Sue.com is a self-help legal technology platform built on a simple idea: the person owed $2,000 deserves the same legal leverage as a corporation. We replace the four-figure retainer with an attorney-reviewed demand letter or a court-ready filing packet — and in most cases, the money is recovered before anyone has to set foot in a courtroom.

Our mission

We close the justice gap.

Eighty percent of people who need a lawyer cannot afford one. That is not a statistic — that is most disputes in the country going unresolved because the cost of hiring a law firm is higher than the amount owed.

Our platform takes the work a paralegal would spend an afternoon on — statute research, letter drafting, mail handling, case tracking — and turns it into an intake flow that any person can complete in under ten minutes. A licensed attorney reviews every document before it leaves our system.

The result: a letter or court packet that reads like it came from a law firm, priced for the person who is actually owed the money. Most cases resolve within a week of the letter's delivery. The cases that do not resolve become small claims filings with every form and exhibit pre-organized for the clerk.

What we believe

Four principles, held tight.

01

Access first.

The person owed $2,000 deserves the same legal tools as the corporation owed $2 million. Every feature we build has to hold up for the person who cannot afford to hire a lawyer.

02

Evidence over rhetoric.

We do not sell urgency or fear. We sell documents, delivery proof, and hearing-ready packets. If a feature does not move a case forward, it does not ship.

03

Plain language.

Our intake is in English, not legalese. Our letters are rigorous but readable. Our customer support is human, fast, and speaks like a friend who happens to know the rules.

04

Attorney-reviewed, always.

Every letter is checked by a licensed attorney in the relevant state before it prints. Software drafts fast. Lawyers catch the edge cases. Both matter.

    Founded

Sue is founded on the belief that $129 should be enough to give someone the legal leverage they need to get paid. The first demand letter goes out in Texas six weeks later.

  2. 2022

Attorney network in all 50 states

We partner with licensed attorneys in every U.S. state, so every letter is reviewed by counsel who knows the statutes that actually apply.

    Today

A distributed team across the U.S. builds and supports a platform that resolves most disputes before anyone has to set foot in a courtroom.

Why we exist

A law firm is not the only answer.

For most disputes under $25,000, hiring an attorney costs more than the amount in play. The legal industry has spent decades gatekeeping forms, procedures, and statute citations that were always supposed to be publicly accessible.

We are not opposed to attorneys — we partner with hundreds of them. We are opposed to the assumption that you need one for every dispute, no matter how small. Our job is to give you the same leverage they would, at a fraction of the cost, and to point you back to full representation when your case actually requires it.

If we do our job right, most of our customers never talk to an attorney at all. Their case resolves from the letter, the debt is paid, and life goes on. That is the outcome we are building for.
